  • How much does a master program cost?

    The tuition fees are listed here.

  • Do I need to pay tuition fees for an exchange program/ research internship?

    Usually the tuition fees are waived for exchange students in the framework of our exchange agreement with partner universities. In certain cases however, the exchange agreement with the partner does not integrate a tuition fee waiver. We recommend that you approach the Study Abroad office at your home university to verify the conditions of the exchange agreement.

  • Is there financial help for International students?
    • Partial tuition waiver for exceptionally qualified candidates and students from partner universities,
    • French Government Accommodation Allowance (APL/ALS) for international students,
    • French Embassy Scholarship Program (for more information contact your local French Embassy),
    • Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program for Ph.D. students with outstanding academic records from partner universities.

  • What is the cost of accommodation in Paris?

    Accommodation may cost between 650-900 euros per month. Please note that these costs are based in Paris and there is often cheaper housing in the outskirts of Paris. You will find all of the details here.

    International students may also apply for the French Government Accommodation Allowance (APL/ALS), which helps reduce the accommodation budget.

  • When do I pay my tuition?
    • Tuition fees are payable by bank wire transfer on or before the first day of classes.
    • Annual tuition fees must be made before the beginning of the school year.

  • What kind of accommodation is available to students?

    Students usually find accommodation in private student residences in Paris or the close outskirts. The type of accommodations are either studio apartments with a bathroom and kitchenette or single/double rooms with shared cooking/dining facilities. Please find all of the information here.

  • Do you have on-campus housing?

    Efrei does not have on-campus housing, however the school has partnerships with several housing platforms and student residences near the campus. Please find all of the information here.

  • Can Efrei help find student accommodation?

    Upon admission students have access to the housing offers that are available to Efrei students on the school housing platforms. Please find all of the information here.

  • Can Efrei provide a “Proof of Housing” Certificate?
    • As part of the Student Visa application, international students must provide a housing certificate.
    • In the case where a student organizes their housing individually, the property owner / landlord / lessor must provide the necessary housing certificate.
    • Efrei can deliver a “Proof of Housing” Certificate only in the case when the student applies for CROUS state accommodation via the school.
  • Do I need to subscribe to housing insurance?

    Yes, by law in France you need to subscribe to a housing insurance before having access to your accommodation.

    As a tenant, the student is responsible to the owner for any damage.

  • Is it easy to find housing in Paris?
    • In Paris there is a shortage of student housing and it is therefore necessary to do your search early.
    • Be aware that in Paris the average commute time is 45 minutes to 1 hour.
    • Efrei students have access to a lot of accommodation offers close to campus via our housing platforms.
    • We recommend that international students also plan for temporary housing at the beginning of their stay in order to have time to find housing and arrange a move-in date.
  • Do I need a financial guarantor to secure housing in France?

    In most cases international students need to have a guarantor living in France. In the absence of a guarantor living in France, international students can request a financial guarantee from the organizations Visale or Studely.

  • I have been accepted to Efrei. How can I prepare for my arrival in France?

    The International Relations Department will provide an “International Student Guide” to advise you on the steps to take to prepare for your studies in France including, but not limited to: housing, insurance, flight reservations, airport pick up, Efrei administrative procedures, etc.

  • Does Efrei offer an orientation to new international students?

    Yes, the Efrei International Office provides information to international students upon their arrival. Please find the information here.

  • How do I sign up for health insurance in France?

    All international students who come to study at Efrei must give proof of health insurance coverage. Please find the information here.

  • How can I organize my airport pick-up?

    Several companies provide airport pick-up services. The student association Efrei International can also provide some help if the pick-up is requested at least 15 days in advance.

  • What is a typical commute like?

    On average Parisians commute 45 minutes to and from work or school on public transportation.

  • How do I get around Paris?

    With a monthly metro pass “Navigo” you can sign up for all zones 1-5 for 84€ a month and you can travel both within the city and the outskirts on metro, RER, bus and tramway.

  • What’s the weather like in Paris? What clothes should I bring?

    You will usually experience four distinct seasons in Paris including fall, winter, spring and summer.

    • September – November: Fall season
      • You will often experience both cold and rainy days as well as bright sunny days. Temperatures may vary from 25° Celsius in September to 10° – 15° Celsius in November.
    • December – February: Winter season
      • The winter season can be cold and humid with temperatures sometimes dropping below zero and varying from -5° Celsius to 10° Celsius.
    • March – May: Spring season
      • The spring season can be very unpredictable with temperatures varying between 15° to 25° Celsius and it is best to prepare for both cold and rainy or hot and sunny days.
    • June – August: Summer season
      • The summer season is usually very warm and dry with temperatures varying from 25° to 40° Celsius.

    For the cold seasons you might want to bring a few pairs of long pants, a mix of T-shirts and long-sleeved tops, and several warm sweaters and sweatshirts. You might also want to consider a coat or a parka with a waterproof liner. We also recommend having an umbrella.

    People walk a lot in Paris so bring one pair of sturdy walking shoes and a pair of professional shoes, plus some sandals if you’re doing a summer semester.

    In terms of dress code students usually wear casual clothes on campus (jeans, t-shirts, etc.), however, students are expected to dress smart casual (avoid sweats and workout clothes) and are occasionally requested to dress formally for some campus events (suits and tie for men, professional wear for women).

  • What are the lunch options on campus?

    There is a student restaurant at Efrei that will allow you to have a hot meal including an appetizer, main plate and dessert for only 3-4€.

Academic

  • As an exchange student, how many credit hours can I take each semester?

    A full time student usually takes 30 ECTS credits per semester and exchange students are expected to take at least 20 ECTS credits. The number of credits must be validated by both Efrei and your home university.

  • As a master student, how many credit hours can I take each semester?

    At Efrei the academic program includes 30 ECTS credits per semester. 1 ECTS credit is equivalent to 25-30 hours of semester work (class time and homework included).

  • Typically how many hours of classes will I have every week?

    In the French Engineering school system the weekly class time is greater than in the university system. Usually students have about 24 hours of class time per week (including lectures, lab, etc.). Students must on average study for 10-15 hours per week, on top of class time.

  • How long are most classes on average?

    The average class time is between 1:30 and 1:45, without a break.

    Exchange students must send an email to international@efrei.fr to request a transcript.

    Efrei full-time students can download their transcripts on the student intranet myefrei.

  • What kind of services are offered on the student intranet?

    Students have access to their class schedule, grades, transcripts, school certificates, university services, events and information on different intranet platforms.

  • What is the grading system at Efrei?

    At Efrei the credit system is the European credit system ECTS. Please find the details here.

Employment

  • Can I work during my studies (on-campus/ off-campus)?

    International degree seeking students (EU or non-EU with student residency permit) are entitled to have a part-time job outside of their studies. All of our programs being offered as full-time programs, please note that international students are not encouraged to work outside of their studies as it may impact their academic results.

  • Can International students do an internship?

    Degree seeking international students must complete the mandatory internships included in their program. Both our undergraduate (1st and 2nd year) and graduate (1st and 2nd year) programs include mandatory internships.

    International exchange students who are registered at Efrei for a full academic year may apply for a company internship in France in the second semester. It is usually not possible for international exchange students to find a company internship for the first semester in France. However, international exchange students may apply for a 1 semester research internship at Efrei.

  • Are internships paid?

    Company internships are usually paid if they last longer than 2 months. The salary can be negotiated with the employer.

    Research internships at Efrei are usually unpaid.

  • Is there a Career Center on campus?

    Efrei is not a French public institution, it is a state recognized, private, non-profit organization founded in 1936. In 2015 it was awarded the EESPIG accreditation in recognition of its contribution to the public mission of higher education.
